What’s new in kitchens?

I still get excited about new products for the kitchen. From the revolutionary to evolutionary, new appliances and design always have the power to inspire me. I’ve just spent a day at a show called KBB, part of the May Design Series, and here are just a few of my favourite things…

Fully integrated wine coolers

Wine coolers have, up until now, been freestanding, partly integrated into cabinetry or part of a fridge freezer. U-Line, however, are quite keen to change that, with its fully integrated wine coolers.

A hob and downdraft extractor in one

Combining has been a popular trend lately (steam combination ovens, convertible fridge freezers and multi-fuel hobs to mention but a few), so Caple’s latest innovation, an induction hob with its own downdraft extractor is sure to gain an army of fans. Here’s a sneak preview…

Kitchen door handles from sink and tap specialist

I love it when a company diversifies, taking its manufacturing knowledge in one arena and applying it to another. Perrin & Rowe has done just that – bringing crisp chrome finishes to a new range of kitchen door handles:

Pop-up mini socket

Pop-up sockets are nothing new but I thought this dinky bank deserved a mention. New from S-Box, it works on the same counter-balance principle as its other boxes for knives, speakers and so on, plus it’s super compact!

Built-in TV

Finally, back to Caple, who deserve a second mention for its lift-up TV, that can be built-in right next to your ovens. Never miss a TV show again, or follow your favourite chef as you cook. Genius!
